The American Film Market is taking place as we speak – this is a mad few days of selling films where every producer, distributor, contracted acquisitions hand, and in some cases, filmmaker, pitches and hopes to consequently sell a film… or films.
It’s also a great place to find out about upcoming films. Many of the majors – but not just – are there with newly mocked-up posters of films they’re trying to get financed, or looking for a partner on, for the world to see.
Here’s what’s been spotted at AFM so-far…
My Bloody Valentine 3D – Bloody Disgusting has captured the first look of the killer from Patrick Lussier’s remake.
Sorority Row – Shock Til You Drop has a first look at the cast from the upcoming movie (due October, 2009).
[REC 2] – It was announced that the film-that-inspired-”Quarrantine” will be sequelized come November 10. BD has an update on it.
Dread – Teaser Art for Clive Barker’s ”Dread” has been uploaded to the image archives of Shock Til You Drop
Alone in the Dark II – A Poster and Some Images from the Lance Henriksen-starring sequel can be seen here
George Romero’s Untitled Zombie Film – Another zombie pic from Romero is on the way, and this is the teaser poster
Speed Demon – The late Stan Winston had been developing a film called “Speed Demon” – which is still happening – and the poster art is here
The Hole 3D – Chris Massoglia (”Cirque du Freak”) and Nathan Gamble are joining the cast of Joe Dante’s new film. A poster for the film is up here
Trades Article – It’s an “embarrassment of riches” at AFM this year, according to this article in The Hollywood Reporter.
The Devil’s Tomb – The Ron Perlman, Cuba Gooding Jr and Ray Winstone film has been sold to Voltage Pictures.
Werewolf – “X-Men” writer David Hayter is behind a film about a 17-year-old boy learns that he’s a werwolf during a hot date. Bloody Disgusting has more on this.
30 Days of Night 2 – A sequel to the Josh Hartnett/Melissa George film has been confirmed. The film will fix on George’s character Stella, says Bloody Disgusting.
Suck – A Vampire rock movie starring Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Moby? Details and Poster Here
First Howl – Yep, the film I write has a presence there. Cast officially announced for the upcoming werewolf-movie satire (which has undergone a title change) : Kristina Anapau (“Cursed”), C. Thomas Howell (“The Hitcher”), Eric Stoltz (“The Butterfly Effect”) and Judd Nelson (“New Jack City”) among them. Rik Walters (“The Kentucky Fried Horror Movie”) spearheading project.
