Eddie Murphy’s been about as good as an empty box of matches in a blackout lately, but he may be on the comeback trail – um, again.
Though “Dreamgirls†was supposed to be Murphy’s big re-entrance to the big leagues – it didn’t happen; and you can blame the bikini-less fat chick at the water-slide park for that. Thanks to “Norbitâ€, and every other high-concept comedy clunker he’s attached himself to, Murphy quickly went from ‘prospective Oscar Winner’ back to ‘once-great comic superstar who now swims in a river of shit’ again.
But if attaching himself to “Beverly Hills Cop 4†wasn’t a sure sign that Murphy’s keen to win audiences (out of diapers) back, then this is : Murphy is set to play comic legend Richard Pryor in a new movie from “Dreamgirls†director Bill Condon.
Murphy, who co-starred opposite Pryor in the late 80s comedy “Harlem Nightsâ€, will headline a film based on the book ‘’Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?’’, according to EW.
Though no studio is currently on board, Fox Searchlight are said to be interested.
Please let this happen – if even so we’ll never have to endure a “Norbit†sequel any time soon.
Including “Chicago Fire”, “The New Normal”, “Ben and Kate” and “Go On”
