There's so much news today, that one possibly can't run every bit - -unless, of course, they mesh it all together.
- The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that "Sin City 2" is indeed being shopped around; seems The Weinstein Company have indeed lost the rights.
- As rumoured yesterday, David Slade ("30 Days of Night") has been confirmed by Summit Entertainment as the director of "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". Meanwhile, the first picture of 'The Wolf Pack' from "New Moon" is up here.
- Vanessa Hudgens ("High School Musical") will star in CBS Films' "Beastly", a twist on "Beauty and the Beast" that's based on a novel of the same name by Alex Flinn.
- Where will "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" end? "We've played around with a couple of places," Producer David Heyman tells Empire, "and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come. We tried one and then Steve (Kloves, screenwriter) came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it felt just right."
- "Spider-Man 4" may be a 3-D movie, Sony Pictures Entertainment's co-chairmen Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton hinted to Forbes.
- Empire Magazine has debuted the first official photo from "Edge of Darkness", the new Martin Campbell-directed picture starring Mel Gibson. The site also has a picture of Chloe Moretz, as Hit Girl/Mindy Macready, in Matthew Vaughan's "Kick-Ass".
- Elizabeth Banks ("The Uninvited'') will topline Dreamworks' new high-profile workplace comedy "Forever 21". Mike Culbert and Mike Pellettieri wrote the script.
- Marcus Nispel ("Friday the 13th") will direct "Pacemaker", based on a script by Lars Jacobson, says Production Weekly.
- Though originally scheduled for DVD release downunder in June, "Fanboys" has been pushed back to October because of the recently-announced theatrical release (it'll screen at Melbourne's ACMI in June).
- Producer Lauren Schuler-Donner has some updates on future projects like "Constantine 2" and "Magneto" in an interview with Sci-Fi Wire. As for the former, a sequel to the Keanu Reeves-starrer, she said the chances of it happening are "very good. Thinking about it. Looking for a writer."
- Cameron Diaz is in final negotiations to topline Warner Bros.' legal comedy "Bobbie Sue," with Donald De Line producing. Story centers on a hard-charging female ambulance chaser whose mindset makes her the ideal candidate to be the face of a prestigious law firm when a powerful client is sued in a sexual discrimination case.
- Kevin Macdonald has made a deal with New Regency to develop and direct "The End of Eternity," the 1955 Isaac Asimov novel the financier-producer acquired late in the fall.
- Exclusive Preview Screenings of ''Crush'' commence today (ahead of its national release July 30).Where? The Piccadilly Cinemas in Perth (Hay St Mall entrance) When? Starting Thursday the 23rd of April through to 29th of April. Sessions: 11.30am, 3pm, 6.30pm, 8pm
- NBC's "Kings" is on the move again, this time to summer. After originally scheduling the midseason drama on Thursday, launching it on Sunday and moving it to repeat-laden Saturday night after four low-rated episodes, the contemporary King David drama has been pulled off the schedule.
- Debra Messing is back at NBC. The untitled comedy stars the "Starter Wife" actress as a laid-off CEO who is as ill-prepared to be a full-time wife and mother as her husband is to provide for the family.
- Evan Rachel Wood ("The Wrestler") will guest-star in two episode's of "True Blood". Wood will play the “charming, wily, ruthless and wise” Sophie-Anne, the 500-year-old vampire Queen of Louisiana.
- Moviehole has 10 double sneak passes (1 – 3May) for ''The Baader-Meinhof Complex'' up for grabs. The film is a look at Germany's terrorist group, The Red Army Faction (RAF), which organized bombings, robberies, kidnappings and assassinations in the late 1960s and '70s. This competition is open to Australian Residents Only. It's first in - best dressed; email me to snag yourself a ticket.
- The Daily Swarm is reporting a slightly dubious rumour that Brett Ratner will direct the Milli Vanilli biopic that Universal is developing.
- Harvey Keitel and Louis Mandylor have joined the cast of Cuba Gooding Jr's latest "Wrong Turn at Tahoe", currently filming under the direction of Franck Khalfoun.
- Erika Eleniak ("The Beverly Hillbillies", "Under Siege") will star in the Joe di Gennaro-directed actioner "Buds". Inspired by true events, the plot revolves around a young man named Steffan, who, after running out of funds from his Army Scholarship, is earning his way through college by growing and selling marijuana. Judd Nelson and Kevin Farley co-star.
- Arielle Kebbel ("The Uninvited") has joined the cast of the new Val Kilmer/Ving Rhames pic "Silver Cord", which tells of a man, on the hunt for a past love, whose silver cord, which connects his soul with his body, breaks and is believed to be dead.
