The Rock is not in Nemo!

Update! :McG tells SciFi that Dwayne Johnson is not aboard "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea : Captain Nemo". “I’ve never spoken to Dwayne Johnson about this. I like him. He’s great. He’s a wonderful human being and an excellent screen presence, but we have not spoken about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Not a word.”

Here's the original story :

As I mentioned on Twitter a couple of minutes back, Production Weekly is claiming that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has signed to star in McG's "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea". Yeah, another Disney flick. Sigh. Whimper. Groan.

I understand why Johnson has decided to follow this road - his past family films ("The Game Plan", "Race to Witch Mountain") have been bigger hits than his more brutal big-kid actioners (like "Doom" and "The Rundown") - but I still think he ought to give the Schwarzenegger 2.0 route another jab. The man was truly shaping up to be the next great action hero - The Arnie comparisons weren't without reason; when he's wearing the right boots, he can really kick ass! - and, though his first few actioners were merely OK, there was enough in them to suggest that big one (be it his "Terminator" or "Total Recall") was just around the corner.

Think about all the great 'Rock' action vehicles we were promised at one time-or-another. "Spy-Hunter" (fell apart; could've been a great role for him) and "Ride-Along" (an action laffer he and Ryan Reynolds were set to do) being the best-known of the unproduced pics. Such a shame...

... oh well, as long as the kids are entertained. I guess.

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is (as far as I knew, it was only a rumour but the abovementioned site lists it as fact) will film in Australia.
