My pal Amy Adams – who I am ever so proud of, she has come such a long way! Hard to believe that just a couple of years back she was staying in the spare room at a friend’s house! - is in talks to join Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg for the long-gestating David O.Russell-helmed biffo drama, “The Fighter”.
Adams would play a gritty bartender from Massachusetts who ends up dating Wahlberg's character, "Irish" Mickey Ward.
The pic, lensing this Summer, tells the story of Ward's early days on the rough streets of Lowell, Mass., and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by his half-brother, portrayed by Bale. Melissa Leo's also been cast.
Amy recently wrapped “Leap Year” for Spyglass and Benderspink, and will next be seen in “Julie and Julia” with another screen great, Meryl Streep.
