Choreographer turned filmmaker Kevin Tancharoen (“Fame”) tells Moviehole he’s dancing into a science-fiction flick next.
“Arcana”, says Tancharoean, “is a unique blend of the graphic-novel backdrop – like Blade Runner – and shot like 300, and has a little bit of Warriors mixed in there, with a little bit of martial arts, so it’s got a lot of crazy elements in there. It’s going to be really cool. We’re writing it right now actually – a guy named John Ridley is writing it; I’m very happy we got him.”
Ridley recently wrote the script for “Red Tails”, the George Lucas-produced adventure pic about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.
The filmmaker says you shouldn’t be surprised that he, the dancing man, is next headed into “Blade Runner” territory.
“I’m first a comic and video-game nerd …. Who got into dancing somehow”, he laughs.
“Arcana” is set up at Rat Entertainment and will be produced by Brett Ratner (“X-Men : The Last Stand”) and Jay Stern (“Rush Hour 3”). Universal will distribute.
