Cage exits Hornet

Sony’s “Green Hornet” has encountered more hurdles than a triathlon entrant.

On top of fiscal woes, director woes, and ‘Kato’ woes (all of which have now been solved) – the film is now without a villain. Yup, Nicolas Cage has departed his post as the big-screen transfer’s big-bad.

Cage was never officially onboard but it’s thought that talks had progressed to a stage where every blogger in town felt comfortable enough to place his name in the cast section for their respective “Green Hornet” pages.

Though the film is already shooting, Cage’s ‘Mr X’ isn’t that major a role (I hear) and the actor hadn’t shot any scenes yet, so it should be a fairly easy quick-fix. No doubt Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper and Garrett Dillahunt’s agents are already on the phone to Sony.

The 2010 release, directed by Michael Gondry, stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, and Edward James Olmos.
