- Doesn’t sound like Adam Sandler’s willing to make any more “Funny People”-sized gambles in the near future. Suppose if what works pays, I’d be skipping the cancer-pics too. The aging comic has signed star in the Steve Koren-penned romantic comedy "Jack and Jill", which he’ll produce via his Happy Madison shingle. Sandler will play Jack as well as twin sister Jill. "Jack and Jill" is scheduled to begin lensing early next year and will be released by Sony in early 2011. Sandler next appears in Sony’s highschool reunion comedy “Grown Ups”, and also lends his lungs to the MGM/Sony comedy “Zookeeper”. (Variety)

The Ridley/Tony Scott-produced flick is loosely based on Tish Cohen's debut novel of the same name, which centers on an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father's work dwindling, the man is forced to come to terms with his life. A call girl strikes up a friendship with the man. (Variety)

Film Recommendation of the Day
X-Files : Fight the Future (1998) - Even for a non X-Phile (like me), this big-screen spin-off of the popular 90s science-fiction serial was quite an engaging ride - in fact, much more than you'll likely expect it to be if all you know about the series is it featured a recurring theme of 'black goo'. Though some of the plot lines and links to the series will be lost on the tyro viewer, there's enough terrifically-staged action sequences, grand performances (Martin Landau, John Neville, Armin Mueller-Stahl!), and whiz-bang effects to cloak the confusing the bits. One of the better film adaptations of a TV series.
