Remember a couple of days ago when I suggested that there could be some truth to the rumour Mania‘s running about a Rachel McAdams-looking Black Cat appearing in ‘’Spider-Man 4”? You do? Well I suggested there could be some truth to it simply because, well, those Mania guys are stand-up gents. And I think they’d be able to sift through the shit just as well as the rest of us. Well, gold star for my gut feeling – and the aforementioned site, their scoop (well, not the McAdams-part… yet), seems to be on the money.
Fellow film site Hey U Guys have solid confirmation (/Film say their source is very reliable) that The Black Cat/Felicia Hardy will indeed be present in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 4″. Though they can’t confirm the McAdams or Romola Garai (another lass that’s said to be up for the role) rumours, they can say Raimi’s looking at a number of different actors for the role of Peter Parker’s new love interest (read into that what you will; personally, I smell ‘special appearance by Kirsten Dunst’ tagged onto the new film) – and those two chickies may very well be in the mix.
Hey U Guys also suggest that the cinematic interpretation of Felicia Hardy will be a little different to her comic-book counterpart.
‘’Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper’ (more on this in a second). She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat).
This doesn’t fit exactly with the comic book incarnation of Hardy, who is the daughter of a cat burglar, but the character’s interaction with Peter Parker is fairly close to that in the comics.”
The site also suggests that the character of Felicia’s father (who, assumingly, Raimi wants another big name for) might also be a villain.
Stay Tuned for an official announcement shortly….. or not.
