Now this has ruined my day….
Joss Whedon’s constantly-improving “Dollhouse” is being shipped off to the Salvo’s, er, the scrap heap.
Though the series hasn’t been a ratings winner for Fox, the network believed in it enough to award it a second season – one which many claim is substantially better than the first.
The show, says Variety, will return to the schedule on Dec. 4 and run the nine remaining episodes in its order for the season.
"This gives Joss the opportunity to end in a significant way," the network said in a statement.
Posting on the Whedonesque.com site, Whedon said : ‘’I don't have a lot to say. I'm extremely proud of the people I've worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you'll agree in the coming months. I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again. I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I've read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear. Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts.’’
Over on Twitter, star Frank Kranz (‘Topher’) said, “Not a huge surprise but it was still a shock to hear it from joss' lips. We all loved this one… it’s been fun. We promise a great ending though’’.
Australian actress Dichen Lachman (‘Sierra’), also Twittered about the cancellation, noting that she “feels sad” but at least Fox is “showing all 13” episodes.
Meanwhile, the trade reports that Kelsey Grammer’s poor-rating sitcom “Hank” has also been booted from the box.
