If today was a McDonald’s hamburger, it’d be a McPity.
70s TV heartthrob Dennis Cole has – like Edward ‘The Equalizer’ Woodward – left us this week.
Cole, who has been working as a real-estate agent for the past few years, was the blonde, beefcake who’d usually be revealed as the villain at the end of an episode of, say, “Fantasy Island” or “Baywatch”. But it was the 70s TV series “Felony Squad”, in which he played rookie detective Jim Briggs, that he’ll likely be best remembered for. But Cole starred in quite a few TV series, including “Bearcats” with ‘Australia’s Own’ Rod Taylor. And his guest appearance on “Charlie’s Angels”, led to the meeting and 1978 marriage to one of the "Angels", Jaclyn Smith. As one of Hollywood's more beautiful couples, they kept cameras flashing for a number of years -- until their breakup and divorce in 1981.
Cole tried to crack the movie market, but he was very much a product of TV.
Our condolences to his family and friends.
