Speaking to the soon-to-be-if-they’re-not-already-rich Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat this morning for the Oz release of their fiscally-friendly cash cow “Paranormal Activity”, the duo told Moviehole that though they haven’t heard anything concrete, they can guarantee the inevitable sequel won’t be as shitty as that other indy-film-done-good follow-up, the abysmally glitzy “Book of Shadows : Blair Witch 2”.
‘’There’s definitely some kind of sequel in the works’’, says Sloat, speaking to us from his parent’s house, where he’s spending the holiday. ‘’I think that Paramount (who distributed the movie in the U.S) are kicking around some ideas. Nothing is concrete yet though.
‘’One thing I do know is that they want the film to encompass the independent feel of the original, they’re not just going to make a Hollywood movie – like Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows", he continues. ''They’re really sensitive to avoiding that trap. I think whatever they come up with is going to be pretty interesting’’.
Oren Peli’s flick, made for less than $15,000, has so far pocketed a sumly $84.6 million. A Merry Christmas at the Peli, Featherston and Sloat abodes this year!
Look out for my interview with both Sloat and Feathston in the next few days
