If Natalie Portman was an unlikely choice for the role of the undead-hunting Lizzy Bennett in the recently announced flick version of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” then David O’ Russell’s appointment as the film’s director is surely an even bigger surprise!?
The director of cult indy’s like “I Heart Huckabees” and "Spanking the Monkey" (and the upcoming “The Fighter”) is said to be flirting with the idea of turning Jane Austen on its/her head - should his schedule permit it – according to Pajiba.
Described as an expanded version of the Austen classic, "Pride" tells the timeless story of a woman's quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers. Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.
