Apple has a nice high-quality copy (as opposed to most other sources) of the “Cop Out” trailer up (and when we get our hands on it, I’ll whack it in the trailers section).
Directed by Kevin Smith, the film (previously known as “A Couple of Dicks”) tells of two longtime NYPD partners on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card who find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Bruce Willis) is the veteran detective whose missing collectible is his only hope to pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding, and Paul (Tracy Morgan) is his “partner-against-crime” whose preoccupation with his wife’s alleged infidelity makes it hard for him to keep his eye on the ball.
In addition, Kevin Smith has just revealed on Twitter that before he cast Willis and Morgan, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg (who’d end up teaming for the similiar-themed “B-Team“) were originally in talks to lead “Cop Out”.
“[They]wanted full salaries. WB wanted 2 make it for less so W/M walked. But W/M still wanted to do cop movie. Hence, that flick”, Smith says.
