Kato Speaks!

Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou says he’s had his work cut out for him working on the big screen version of ‘’The Green Hornet’’.

For the role of Kato (which he scored after Stephen Chow opted out), the young actor has had to learn English – and he’s finding it a bit tough. “I'm not great to it yet,” Chou tells The Malaysian Star

The Hollywood production schedule, however, is testing the “Curse of the Golden Flower” star’s patience. “I'm impatience to start with. In Asia, we get through a movie very quickly. We get the script, we get working and it's done. In Hollywood, they have rehearsals that go on for half a month before they begin shooting and shooting can go on for months,” he complains.

In a separate interview with Channel News Asia, Chou said he couldn’t turn down the chance to play Kato.

"I had to do it. It's a role that Bruce Lee once played, plus it's a positive Asian role which is rare in Hollywood," he said, alluding to how most Chinese actors play baddies in Hollywood.

"Over there, I'm a newbie. There is a lot of waiting around before my scenes and I cannot speak too loudly. I have to be well-behaved. But overall, it was fun, and a good but different experience. Anyway, I went to Hollywood not just to make it big and develop my film career. I went there to also introduce my music to the Americans. So that they will notice me."

The film, starring Seth Rogen in the titular role, will be in cinemas in December.
