Various Casting News

The following news item nearly didn't happen - you see I decided I'd put down my glass of scotch to write this up, only I'd decided a good place to put it would be the bottom left corner of my Power Book's keyboard. My girlfriend ran up from behind me, sprouting a line from "Anna and the King" (don't ask!), and before I knew it, my C, X, S and F keys were drowning in cheap alcohol. As it turns out, blow-dryers do have more than one (well, two - they scare cats away, nicely!) use.

Mad Max : Fury Road

Teresa Palmer ("Bedtime Stories", "2:37") may have replaced Charlize Theron in George Miller's long-awaited "Fury Road". The news comes courtesy actor Jay Baruchel (!), Palmer's co-star in the upcoming CGI thing "How to Train Your Dragon", who noted that Palmer's back home in Australia to shoot "Mad Max 4 with Miller". I believe Clint knows Teresa, or they're at least in contact, so chances are he could confirm this - if only I could track him down. When he shoots me back an email, or returns my call, I'll see if we can't get him to touch base with the lovely Teresa and see what's what. You'll recall that Palmer near worked with George Miller on the thankfully-postponed "Justice League of America" movie, so likely there is something to this. Maybe Theron was asking for too much cash? They could cast fucking Linda Kozlowski as the female lead and I'd still wanna watch this. Everybody reading this item no doubt loves - and has seen a dozen or more times - the "Mad Max" trilogy, and if you don't, you've clearly left your taste buds at an IHOP somewhere. Miller's "Mad Max" series - the 2nd film, especially - are some of the finest action films ever made. Best of all, they don't age --- only Tina Turner's theme song does. (Source:The Herald-Sun)

Passion Play

Bill 'Carl Speckler' Murray will star opposite Megan Fox, Val Kilmer and Mickey Rourke in Mitch Glazer's (he's the chap that wrote the Pacino flick "The Recruit", right?) cool-sounding "Passion Play". The flick stars the "Transformers" babe as a fallen angel who is rescued by a lowly musician (Mickey Rourke). Murray, replacing "RocknRolla" star Toby Kebbell, will play a mobster hot who's gone a bone (boner?) to pick with Fox's Angel. The last time Murray played a mobster was in "Mad Dog and Glory", right? What a gem that was - must see if I have it on DVD anywhere here... (Source : Production Weekly)

Happy Feet 2

"Ocean's Eleven" buddies (well, I'm assuming their buddies? Isn't that what those "Oceans" films were about? Just an excuse for a bunch of close friends to get up to some fucking mischief in Vegas... with a camera filming it all?) Matt Damon and Brad Pitt will reunite - albeit in a recording booth - to voice characters in George Miller's (Yeah, him again - busy son of a gun) "Happy Feet" sequel. They join Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Magda Szubanski and... well, whoever has signed to replace Brittany Murphy. (Source : Movieline)

John Carter of Mars

Daryl Sabara ("Spy Kids") will play famed author Edgar Rice Burroughs (in this, he's John Carter's nephew) in Disney's film adaptation of "John Carter of Mars" (which stars Taylor 'Tim Riggins' Kitsch in the lead role). It was also reported a couple of days back that "Malcolm in the Middle" dad Bryan Cranston will have a role in the pic (Source : Walt Disney Pictures).

Finally, how cool are those "A-Team" pictures that Fox sent on over the other day!? Neeson looks sweeeet!
