Kristen Bell

‘I'm sexy, I'm cute, I'm popular to boot' - that's a cheer-leading chant from seminal teen-comedy ‘'Bring it On'', but Kristen Bell could probably just as easily use it as her theme. Here's our chat with the lovely (she is an absolute doll, and I'm not just referring to her looks; you won't find a more down-to-earth and legitimately funny gal working in Hollywood) star of Disney rom-com ‘'When in Rome".

Kristen, how important is your career compared to say, a relationship you may be in?

I think your significant other should be way more important, but I love working - I'm not a workaholic, and I know I'm in a very lucky place, so I'm grateful to be where I am  - too.

You are doing well - knock on wood. So having said that, are you still superstitious?

I'm not very superstitious. In fact, one of my hobbies is breaking mirrors - any chance I get [Laughs]. No, I'm not superstitious at all.

How exciting is it being the ‘star' of a movie?

Well, first of all, getting to work with these guys is so flattering because they all have a style of comedy that I just envy. And I laugh out loud often... at them. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to be [headlining a movie]; I'm glad they had the faith in me, and believed I could pull it off.

You and Josh Duhamel have great chemistry in the movie. How do you know if you're going to click with a co-star?

You really don't know - it's like a crapshoot. I guess they don't figure it out until they get into the editing booth  - whether or not we captured it or not. I like this movie because it's not the girl chasing the guy - which you so often see - ya know? It's not the sad downtrodden girl who's chasing after a guy all the time - revolving around his world. When I found out this was the opposite, I agreed to do the movie.

What was it like on set?

Loud - I'm gonna say Loud. There were a lot of shots blown because we were laughing so much.

How hard was it to play drunk?

When you're drunk - it's not that hard to play Drunk.

As drunk as those executives who won't greenlight a ''Veronica Mars'' movie?

Yeah. I’ve answered this question a lot.

So...?

The way it stands right now, from the information that I have, is that Rob Thomas wrote the script, or treatment or synopsis or whatever, and brought it to Warner Bros. And then Joel Silver said Warner Bros has ‘no enthusiasm to make a Veronica Mars movie at this point’ – which means they don’t think they can sell tickets.

What nonsense!

I think the Veronica Mars fans would say otherwise, too … it’s all just a matter of convincing them that people would see it, which is what some of the online groups that are so, so dedicated are trying to do. Which is so awesome. But at this point we have no control. One thing I do know is that Rob and I will probably just shoot it in his backyard.

Back to ''When in Rome'', you have a lot of crazy scenes here....

People embarrass themselves on a daily basis - as this girl does. And I think that's what makes her likable. It leaves room for a lot of funnies. I'm very klutzy in real life to begin with  - and we just captured that on film. I would just trip, and Mark would just happen to be rolling the camera. And we would put it in the movie. I'm not the most coordinated person in the world.
