Real Stretch for Taylor Lautner

Serving somewhat as a final nail in the Spider-Man rumours (though many speculate that he’s not being considered for the web-slinger, but for the role of his adversary, Flash Thompson), Taylor Lautner has signed to star as the title character in the recently-announced “Strecth Armstrong” movie.

“The addition of Taylor Lautner and the 3-D twist to Stretch Armstrong is sure to pay dividends when the film is released in 2012”, Deadline Hollywood Daily quoted Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, as saying.

This will be the third franchise Lautner’s gone and got himself tied up with – the other two being “Twilight”, of course, and the recently-announced “Max Steel”, also based on a toy line. It’s unlikely Lautner would even want to be considered for Spider-Man, considering how choca-bloc his schedule is already. Because of his commitments, Uni had to push “Armstrong” back a year to accommodate Lautner; can’t see Sony wanting to delay their “Spider-Man” film for anyone… heck, we know they won’t.

Producer Brian Grazer (“The Cat in the Hat”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”) is producing the flick; Steve Oedekerk (“Bruce Almighty”, ‘The Thumbies’) wrote the screenplay.

Interesting side note : Grazer has 43 projects currently in development! Among those projects, “Nutty Professor III” starring Eddie Murphy, an untitled James Brown biopic, the long-gestating “Magnum P.I” movie (which we may have some news on next week), and a second sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” (announced earlier this week).
