With TV hit “Lost” winding down this season, most of it’s ensemble cast (Elizabeth Mitchell already has another gig – on “V”, as does Ian Somerhalder – a regular on “The Vampire Diaries” – they’ll be doing double-duty for the next few months) will be beseeching work soon.
Daniel Dae Kim, ‘Jin Kwon’ on the series, is the first of the bunch to tie up work post-Dharma. It's a gig that'll Kim stays put in Hawaii – where J.J Abrams’ series films – headlining CBS’ recently-announced “Hawaii Five-O” remake.
The actor will play the role of Detective Chin Ho Kelly, played in the original series by Kam Fong, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The role of Steve McGarrett (played by Jack Lord in the original series) has not yet been cast, but Australia’s Alex O’Loughlin (“Moonlight”, “The Oyster Farmer”) is said to be the frontrunner.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (“Transformers”) are the chief’s of the reboot, serving alongside "CSI: NY" executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.
Prior to snagging the role of the kindly Jin on “Lost”, Kim played the iniquitous Gavin on the WB’s “Angel”.
