Update! Rourke has unchained himself from the ticking “Conan” box. Conan’s father will instead by played by genre fave Ron Perlman (“Mutant Chronicles”, “Hellboy”, TVs animated “Conan the Barbarian” – in which he voices ‘Conan’). Don’t know what happened with Rourke’s deal, but I will say, I thought he was ‘too good’ for this.
In addition, Stephen Lang (“Avatar”, “The Hard Way”) has confirmed he’s playing the film’s villain.
Here’s the Original Story…
As rumoured a few weeks back, Mickey Rourke’s now officially in negotiations to play Corin, Conan’s father in director Marcus Nispel’s “Conan” remake.
Heat Vision says Rourke was in talks for the role in January, but the deal went awry. The actor and Nu Image/Millennium got back together in the past couple of weeks, and they managed to work it out.
In the film, Conan’s (Jason Momoa) people – including his father – are slaughtered, prompting the sword-wielding strongman to seek revenge.
Meanwhile, Superhero Hype reports that Sean Hood will be doing a quick polish on the script before the film goes before the cameras in Bulgaria on March 15.
