Matthew Greenberg (“1408″) will write the long-gestating “Pet Sematary” remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mike Werb and Michael Colleary (“Face/Off”) had written an earlier draft.
The Paramount flick, which at one time George Clooney was rumoured to be circling, will be shepherd by veteran producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (“Transformers”, “G.I Joe : The Rise of Cobra”), says The Hollywood Reporter.
I love “Pet Sematary” – I think it’s one of the better screen adaptations of one of Stephen King’s horror yarns. I remember seeing it at the Drive-In, and being absolutely rattled to the bone by the reanimated Gage (Miko Hughes), and grinding my teeth in the whole ‘Fred Gwynne ankle-slicing’ scene. I think Mary Lambert did a terrific job on the flick. At the same time, I also have a soft spot for “Pet Sematary Two” – though based on how many people were in the theatre that day, I assume I’m alone on that one.
