John Hughes is back!

The late, great John Hughes may be buried, but his unproduced screenplays are starting to surface.

A script Hughes had written before his death last August, “Grisby’s Go Broke”, is apparently attracting the interest of near every studio in Hollywood, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount, who distributed Hughes’ “Planes, Trains and Automobiles, “Pretty in Pink” and “Some Kind of Wonderful”, to name but a few, was said to have already made an offer on the script – but the shingle has denied they’re negotiating to buy the script… at this stage.

The “Grisby’s” script, which follows a wealthy Chicago family that loses everything and is forced to move to the sticks, is said to be one of many scripts Hughes’ had written but never released to the studios.

The Hughes’ name will carry on it seems.

There’s, of course, a direct sequel to the Hughes-penned “Vacation” in the works, with Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo expected to reprise their roles from the 1984 original.

In addition, there are whispers of both a sequel and – god forbid! – a remake of Hughes’ timeless classic “Ferris Buellers Day Off”. The sequel is said to be set on the lead character’s 40th birthday with Ferris and Cameron reuniting for another crazy day off (in this case, from work); the remake would be, as per the designation, a complete do-over of the Matthew Broderick-starring original. If I was a betting man, I’d put money on that one coming to fruition over the sequel – as horrifying as the thought is.
