We can all breath a sigh of relief. Despite earlier reports suggesting he was their man, Marvel will not be going with John Krasinski (”The Office”) for “Captain America”.
Deadline Hollywood Daily says the thin-framed comic has fallen off the short list, seemingly replaced by the more fitting Chris Evans (Johnny Storm in the “Fantastic Four” films).
With Marvel hoping to to have had a star by now, the wish-list of actors has been whittled down. At this stage, says the aforementioned site, “Tron Legacy” star Garrett Hedlund and Mike Vogel (“Cloverfield”) are the two actors “in serious contention”.
Says the site, “Hedlund was on Marvel’s original wish list but didn’t test at first. Scheduling was cited, but I also heard his reps balked when Marvel informed them that the job would include options for 9 future films and a salary around $300,000.”
Other actors who’ve tested for the role of ‘Cap’ include Scott Porter, Michael Cassidy,Patrick Flueger, Chace Crawford, Ryan McPartlin, and (so he says on his Twitter page) comedian Dane Cook.
