Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
SFX artist Aaron Sims tells MTV that the long-gestating “Planet of the Apes” reboot is very much still alive. “They’re just starting. There was another director, It’s in the process right now”, Sims says. The new film, set before the original (and Tim Burton’s) “Planet of the Apes”, is said to be set on modern-day Earth.
Robotech
Seems Sylvain White (“The Losers”) is directing the feature film version of the classic animated series – whenever it should happen. “I’m interested in doing it. The project is not fast tracked. There is no official thing. They sent me a draft and I liked it. It’s a work in progress”, the filmmaker tells IESB, adding that the film would center on “the first generation” of Robotech characters.
Voltron
The script by Justin Marks (“Street Fighter : The Legend of Chun-Li”) has been tossed out and World Event Productions and Atlas Entertainment are starting from scratch on the long-awaited movie. Says Coming Attractions, “Regarding the movie: I was glad to get some confirmation, finally, on the abandonment of the Marks script and Davis rewrite. I hold no major ill will toward the Marks script (other than being opposed to the majority of the movie being set on Earth), but I like that WEP is keeping its options open. (I must confess I know next to nothing about the Davis rewrite, other than that it punched up the action.) Nothing but kind words were spoken of Justin Marks and Max Makowski, but reboot mode is reboot mode. Whatever the case, I am sure Justin Marks has bright career ahead of him.”
