While out stumping the first entry in his ‘Night Chronicles’ series “Devil”, Producer M.Night Shyamalan revealed that he’s decided to use the plot and villain of his long-proposed “Unbreakable” sequel…. for a future stand-alone piece that will be released under the ‘Night Chronicles’ banner and likely not feature Bruce Willis or Samuel L.Jackson! Aaargh…!

“I cannibalized the idea for the sequel to Unbreakable for one of the Night Chronicles”, Night tells MTV. “It was such a cool idea for a villain, and it was actually originally in the script for Unbreakable, and it was too much. There were too many villains, so I pulled this villain out and was like, ‘I’ll make this the second flick. I fleshed it out more and more, and thought, ‘This could be a standalone movie. I’ll just say it: the third Night Chronicles movie is what would have been the sequel [to Unbreakable]. So now I need to come up with a new idea.”

And where’s the good news in this? Well, I guess there isn’t really… well, besides Night mentioning that he will “need to come up with a new idea” for “Unbreakable 2″. But seriously, the chances of it happening now? especially now that he’s sold-off the sequel’s blueprint?
