Last we heard Mark Ruffalo was set to play both Bruce Banner and The Hulk in Joss Whedon’s costly ”Avengers” flick. No, there was no talk of painting Ruffalo green, but it was said that the actor would be doing stop-motion work needed to create the computer-generated alter-ego of scientist Banner. Seems this has all changed…
ComicBookMovie noticed a tweet from Brandon Molale who as good as confirmed that Ruffalo will only be playing Banner.
“Just auditioned to play The Hulk (motion capture) in the new Avengers movie. Pretty damn cool job!”
So there you have it, Marvel have saved themselves [more; see Terrence Howard, Edward Norton for more info] money by hiring a cheap proxy to play the motion-capture Hulk.
