Superman Reboot?

Anyone remember ”Superman Returns”?

It came out a couple of years ago. Did quite respectable business. Gave us a good Clark Kent/Superman in newcomer Brandon Routh.

What’s that? You all remember it!?

Shit! Mark Millar (“Wanted”) was hoping you didn’t.

Mark Millar tells The Daily Record he’s approached Warner about doing a remake of “Superman” – and therefore something will probably trample over the events of the recent film – and he’ll know by Christmas whether or not it’s going to be a reality.

“Since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to reinvent Superman for the 21st century. I’ve been planning this my entire life. I’ve got my director and producer set up, and it’ll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think”, Millar tells.

“The Superman brand is toxic after that last movie lost $200 million, but in 2011 we’re hoping to restart it. Sadly I can’t say who the director is, but we may make it official by Christmas. But fingers crossed it could work out, that would be my lifetime’s dream.”

Millar, who is now the toast of Hollywood following his success with the hit film “Wanted”, said later on his official site that “a very well known American action director heard about my love of Superman, approached my and asked me to team up with he and his producer to make a pitch for this. We’ve been talking for several weeks now and, if this is going to happen, we’ll know by Christmas. He has huge pull at WB so fingers crossed. But this is nothing more than a huge US name pulling me into his fold and making me part of a package.”

Funny thing is, Bryan Singer’s under the assumption that he’s shooting a sequel to “Superman Returns” next year. Routh too.

Be interesting to see how this turns out.

Personally, I’d much rather they stuck with Singer and Routh – and just put a little more effort into a “Returns” sequel.
