Can the already jam-packed cast of "Milk" possibly squeeze in any more actors??
Whatever the case, make some room for a couple of TV faces, joining the cast of Gus Van Sant's calcium-rich biopic on the gay activist.
Victor Garber, best known for his role as Poppa Bristow on "Alias", and Douglas Smith, who plays Ben on HBOs "Big Love", are joining Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch and James Franco for the controversial yarn.
Garber will play Mayor George Moscone. Moscone's dedication to issues that others were afraid to address earned him an important place in history--but it also got him killed. On November 27, 1978 he and gay activist Harvey Milk (Sean Penn) were murdered in cold blood by City Supervisor Dan White (Josh Brolin). White had recently resigned from the Board of Supervisors because of the enactment of the Gay Civil Rights bill that he had opposed. Here is a piccie of the real Moscone, and here is a reminder of what Victor Garber sees when he looks in the mirror.
Smith, brother of "Everwood" star Gregory, will play Paul Hogarth, one of Milk's strongest supporters.
A former college journalist, Hogarth was later a prominent member of the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club. Its again perfect casting - here's a picture of Hogarth, and here is a picture of the actor who'll be portraying him. Not bad huh!?
