Dana Carvey has another - well, he's gotta be cheesed about not even snagging the smallest of roles in any of his former buddy Mike Myers' post-"Wayne's World" hits, doesn't he? - reason to be pissed : He's missed out on the chance to play George Bush Sr, a character he perfected on "Saturday Night Live", for a new Oliver Stone movie - not that he was ever a contender.
Stone has cast James Cromwell ("Babe", "The Queen", "L.A Confidential") in the role of W's Pop, says Variety. Needless to say, Cromwell's a tad better an actor than Carvey, so it's probably just as well Stone's still got his head screwed on properly.
Cast as Barbara Bush, George Sr's Mrs, is Ellen Burstyn.
Stone, not surprisingly, has put together a PHAT cast for this flick - Josh Brolin as George W, Elizabeth Banks as Laura, and now Cromwell & Burstyn as "the olds".
On a side note, you might interested to know that C.Thomas Howell is playing George W.Bush - or, a 'George Bush'-type, since they're not actually allowed to say it's 'W' - in a new flick, currently filming in L.A, called "Commander-and-Chief". Never thought of Tommy as a Bush type, but maybe he can pull it off..... Travolta pulled Clinton off, didn't he?! (No! Not like that!). That one, a comedy from Reef Pictures, is directed by Gerson Sanginitto, and co-stars Ronnie Gene Blevins, Marshall Manesh ("Pirates of the Caribbean : At World's End"), Jenny Vilim, Cameron Bender, Candice Patton (TV's "Young & The Restless") and Christopher Showerman ("Big Game"). According to the MySpace site of the production company, "this hysterical political satire is guaranteed to make audiences both laugh and think".
