Caught up with Paul Walker last year when he was in Oz promoting "2 Fast 2 Furious". Gotta say, genuinely nice chap. Loves his cars though. Loves 'em. If you know your pistons, driveshaft and mudguards he'll chew the gristle of your ear off.
He was pretty keen to hop back behind the wheel of a speedy-buggy for a mooted "Fast and the Furious 3" a while back, but something seems to have changed.
Talking to Cinema Confidential, Walker sounded a little half-half about the sequel. "I don’t know what’s going to happen with that. I’ll tell you when you turn those things off".
We can only speculate. There has been a lot of rumours about which direction the franchise is heading. One rumour suggested it was out with Walker and in with original muscle-head Vin Diesel, whilst another said the sequel would team Walker with "2 Fast" co-star Tyrese again. Whatever the case, sounds like a spanners been thrown in the works of said sequel plans.
He isn't done with franchises though, he says. He just wants a good one.
"I’d do another franchise, I think the best franchise going- I haven’t seen the sequel yet, but I loved “Bourne Identity.” Fuck, man, I’d do something like that".
Another slick-sounding flick that Walker wants in on is "Black Dahlia", Brian De Palma's new film. "Brian De Palma’s got a movie he’s gonna do called “The Black Dahlia”…De Palma’s my favorite. And I heard that one of the cast members, someone that’s attached dropped out. I want to do that movie! De Palma’s the man", says Walker. "Jeff Byrd is my agent at ICM. Jeff Byrd represents De Palma. So I’m like, “yo, Byrd, make this happen. I mean, he knows how I am. I can’t pretend to be somebody that I’m not. I talk to him just like I talk to you guys. He’s really cool, I’ll be like, hey man, get me in this movie, I want to make this movie.
